The quenacho is from quechua and/or aymara origin. Belongs to the quena family. Is usually made of bamboo from tropical zones in Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. Also is made with gravel, copper and bone. The quality of a quenacho depends on it age, the older it is, the more stable and expensive it will be. The shape is identical to that of the quena but is bigger and the sound is more high pitched. |
